^Above is a picture of a skin rash. This is one of the very many side effects that can be caused by aspartame.
Aspartame has many positive outcomes; for example, zero calories. Many people across the world are now faced with obesity and diabetes. Utilizing artificial sugar prevents higher calories and sugar levels and is safer than actual sugar. However, considering aspartame is artificially made, it comes with some negative side effects as well. There is a dark side to aspartame. A group of monkeys that were tested for a study developed seizures while being given a milk formula containing aspartame on a daily basis for seven months (218 days). These monkeys performed grand mal or tonic clonic seizures. This type of seizure is very ugly to watch and is a dangerous type of seizure that affects the whole brain. This proves that aspartame has harsh effects on the brain, that can affect the cognitive and physical capabilities of many species, including us humans. The monkeys suddenly stopped performing seizures once they were given the milk based formula without any aspartame. Since aspartame causes effects on the brain, it affects throughout your body. Some side effects from the use of aspartame are:
Headaches
Migraines
Dizziness
Seizures
Nausea
Muscle spasms
Weight gain
Rashes
Depression
Irritability
Tachycardia (abnormally rapid heart rate)
Insomnia (inability to fall asleep)
Vision problems
Heart palpitations (Sensation in the heart that it has skipped or had an extra beat)
Breathing difficulties
Anxiety attacks
Slurred speech
Tinnitus (buzzing of the ears)
Vertigo (sensation of being in a spinning environment)
Amnesia (memory loss)
Joint pain
Tiredness
^Above shows a picture of a brain tumor being removed. Aspartame can increase the chances of brain tumors or for the worse, make them increase in size.
Aspartame is proven to worsen the condition of illnesses by researchers and scientists around the world. For example some diseases include:
Brain tumors (Tumors that grow within the brain)
Multiple sclerosis (Damage to the sheath of nerve cells that affect the brain and the spinal cord)
Epilepsy (Neurological disorder defined by recurrent episodes of sensory disturbances)
Chronic fatigue syndrome (Medical condition that is marked with fevers, aching and depression)
Alzheimer's disease (Progressive deterioration of the brain)
Mental retardation (Below average intellectual abilities)
Lymphoma (Cancer that affects the immune system)
Birth defects (Defects to the baby; e.g down syndrome)
Since there isn't a lot of depth and research by the FDA itself because of the profit it gets, they have shut down cases proving that aspartame is unhealthy to the human body. Despite receiving many complaints and calls of side effects, FDA has continuously ignored these complaints and has told the media that aspartame is perfectly safe. How long is it before the world knows if aspartame is safe or not? Here's a simple video showing the bitter truth behind a very sweet invention:
